Year 11 Easter Revision Preparation: Of Mice and Men & Lord of the Flies

You should have by now re-read both LOTF and OMAM. If you have not that is also part of your homework.

Task
Over the holidays you need to plan an essay response to each of the following essay questions. In the first week back after Easter you will get a ‘surprise’ timed essay for one of these questions (my choice) so you need to prepare them all!

OMAM:

  • Does Steinbeck’s portrayal of Curley’s wife persuade you to change your opinion of her during the course of the novel?
  • How does Steinbeck’s portrayal of the friendship between George and Lennie develop during the novel?

LOTF:

  • What do you consider to be the importance of Piggy in Lord of the Flies and how does Golding present him?

  • How does Golding make the character of Simon so important in the novel? Remember to support your ideas with details from the novel.

Each plan should be structured roughly as follows but you can use any method which works best for you (grids/mind maps/bullet points)
  • Intro
  • P1 point + evidence
  • P2 point + evidence
  • P3 point + evidence
  • Conclusion
